Lol, you should win

This is probably the first MAC7 submission I've heard for the May contest that captures the essence of Newgrounds in a loop. It might not be perfect, it could have a fuller sound with just a tad more going on, but this definitely should win if there isn't anything that could possibly beat it.

-Satisfying loop man, hope you win this contest ;)

(I usually don't show favoritism, but this is pretty sweet).

Spikrodd responds:

okay, i just got a woodie from reading this. this is so great to hear from you over something i made in an hour or so. :/ top 5 is what i aim for.

Definitely needs strings and a "finale part"

This is entirely amazing, I never thought that Donkey Kong Country could sound this amazing in an ambient feel, although that is the main style of the game music. It just breaths out with all the little things that move in and out of the song. But to end it, it seriously just needs a moment where it builds up and just hooks the listener at the end, with a strong string presence, or a strong pad that wraps up the whole song in a "finale," very broad sound, majestic in a way. That would be extremely cool.

Just a suggestion, hope to see that the whole song comes together :D

Nice Work!

Wow, this has got to be the best composition I've heard on Newgrounds. It's relaxing in this extremely good way. The whole song has an extremely nice flow. The dynamics could have a better play in this song, they seem to lack at some key moments where you are building up the song. It's like it might be able to build nicely, but it really doesn't, making the song go nowhere except for what the music dictates. Basically, add some stronger dynamical contrasts :D

-Very nice, I love it, the piano's nice, the pad comes into high and low moments as needed, the drums are just outstanding!!! Keep it up.

What? =o

Those have got to be the weirdest lyrics I've heard in quite a while. I'm not sure whether to be appalled or just pretend I didn't hear that in order to keep my sanity.

-Great sounding instrumental break in between the lyrics, 'twas amazing. Very catchy theme overall, but really, my brain just got fried by those lyrics :\

-Nice job though :D

Choppy in some parts, but otherwise pretty good!!!

Originality: It isn't often that I hear this kind of music, but there's probably a world of it out there somewhere else. Unfortunately, it isn't always at Newgrounds, but it shines here. Sounded very uplifting, in a battle victory sort of way. Or maybe a noble castle of great importance. Sweet!

Diversity: Between strings and piano, it was extremely varied in the music. While keeping a reoccurring theme within the musical parts, the sound came to be pleasant. It could be slightly more dynamic, but it worked out nicely within the piece.

Clarity: :D

Effort :D

-Btw, nice resolving chord.

I've got a new song called Shanghai Paragon, could you check it out? If not that's all good.

(: o)

I now have to download all of the LoZ songs you have, it's a very pleasant sound. I thought the game had it down, cheese, this was just amazing.

Originality: Well, it's Legend of Zelda, it's been done A LOT, as you know. But you have the talent to make a better sounding version than all the wannabes out there. Very nice call and respond between the lead melody of the...(clarinet, methinks?) and the french horn. Strings add in a dynamical brilliance to end the short clip.

Diversity: For such a short clip it contained a sound that was predictable compared to the original. With the other classical instruments, the sound felt alive and full.

Clarity: :D

Effort: Well, it's LoZ, but yes, there's a good degree of it.

Awesome man, keep at it?

P.S. Why all the LoZ songs? Is it for a flash or just to keep yourself occupied?

Setu-Firestorm responds:

It's for an RMXP (RPG Maker XP) project.

You're getting better :D

Originality: Not your ordinary trance track for Newgrounds. This track was definitely thought out. Although some basic effects were used, they were used in a way that only helped to make the song better (which, of course, is what you want to do). Very nice synth work throughout, it felt like it wasn't your average stuff. Very nice transitions as well.

Diversity: The structure of the song was really cool. It'd be cool with some vox (which is an extremely fun thing to have when you know how to use a vocoder in FL). You probably know that, but I felt like saying that so there :P

The beginning could have started in a better way, it still felt a little too fast going from quiet to the full up sound. Otherwise, it was dynamically fairly nice, but predictable.

Clarity: :D

Effort: Definitely!

MmmHmm!

I can see you becoming a really good artist! You seem to have the necessary music skills, but you're definitely going to have to get used to your program, and all the little nifty things that are in it. Very nice, doesn't seem very DnB, but it has a pretty cool groove. Good job!

Captain-Watermelon responds:

I know this song isn't real DnB. It's liquid funk, which is a sub genre of DnB. Thanks for the review and I'll check out your song tomorrow after school.

ImperfectDisciple-Re cording the world one track at a time.
