Wow.

It's really cool, can't say anything about it, it actually happens to match my mood right now. Thanks.

nubbinownz responds:

yes, it matched my mood as well when i was originally writing it, maybe that's what happened. I think I lost that feeling as time wore on.

Nice groove!

Could have stood to have more fills even though it had some noice variations in there with the clave and then that heavy snare. EQ'ing is great, nothing distracting my ears. The ending with the crash cymbal was a bit weak, maybe a more "suspended cymbal" sound, kinda like a reverse cymbal?

-Feel free to check out my stuff if you wish.

loogiesquared responds:

lol. w/e
anyways, i'll review your stuff EVENTUALLY.

Not bad

The guitar is a bit strident/high, and it creates this harsh pinching sound in the ears, though I must say that the delay effect is in awesome usage :D

-Drums are meh, I've got some actual drum samples from my drumset (except for toms). You could update it with those, and see how that works out. Your snare is nice though, I'm digging it.

-It feels like an aspect of the song is missing, like another instrument to act as background or something like that. Otherwise, this song is kinda empty.

-Not bad good sir, keep working on it!

pheel responds:

Thanks for the review.
I know the drums need improving, these were the best ones I could find -_-
I'm sure those samples would be very useful.

;)

I feel like a jerk, but...

I didn't like the tonal quality at all. It felt dry and without a rich fullness to it. It was good in that it kept me interested, but otherwise, it was a real drag for me. It also felt like it was going somewhere, but then it didn't, not very dynamic. Keep practicing, I'm sure you'll get it sometime!

SolusLunes responds:

I practiced quite a few new techniques with this song. Like most of my songs, it was an experiment, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

True, it sounds a bit "dry." I was trying to use as little reverb as possible for the song. Also, that may be a direct result of the fact that it is a 96khz sample rate- you must take that into account.

The things I was trying to emphasize in the song were more of the tonal area in the song being filled by the percussion- I had noticed a tendency in my work to drown it out. I think I did a good job counteracting that here.

Anyways. Awesomeness will come with time. It always does. :D

Yay for an actual remix.

It's kinda nice really. I understand it's a low-quality .mp3, so I'll try not to rake on that. I still think that the mixing could have been better though. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong, and if this is some problem due to the low-quality version, I'm ok with that.

-The bass synth was in my face way too much! It'd be nice if it were calmer, let those high synths get some action. Around 1:30, it's a bigger problem for the bass to be loud cause it drowns the highs out. Before that, bass can reign, that's fine! The section starting around 3:20 is a perfect example of a good balance. Let those high hints of the melody come in better, the bass drowns it out too much. No kidding, the bass synth is a great sound, but it dominates too much.

-Drums at 4:02 dominate too much in the mix, if not, in a lot of the mix really. Careful with that. Drums are nice to be powerful, but too powerful and the effectiveness of the synths are lost.

-By the way, just like another Newgrounder of mine, I'm a sucker for strings, nice stuff there :)

-Entrance of drums at 6:00 was anticlimatic because it's too loud. Filter it through so it has a soft, perhaps glitchy sound. 6:28 would be so much more effective if the drums were quieter before that. The drums around 9:45 would be good for that "soft" but rhythmical feeling.

-Your synths have quite the style that Pulsate has :P

-I think this is good and all, but I think I could get more bang for my buck here (although I'm not paying for this, I can download it for free :D). Nice array of sound (I can see that in the EQ spectrum in the visualization chart. It could be adjusted so it's balanced though. Nice stuff, maybe you know all of this already, so sorry for wasting your time if that's the case :\

-Good stuff good stuff. Hopefully, this can get a slight facelift, and we'll be spot on.

-Feel free to check out my music. It's probably nothing compared to your stuff, but it's always nice to have an extra ear on things.

Karco responds:

I'll keep the bitrate in mind. :) I'll go down your points one by one:

I'll agree, the bass synth was loud. XD I really should have turned it down a bit, I made it louder towards the end of production to compensate for my computer, panning everything to the right a bit for some reason, which made mixing really tricky. I'm pretty lucky it turned out the way it did. :D

Hmm, it MIGHT be the low quality, as I believe the drums sounded fine. But I can see where you're coming from there. :)

Good to hear. Though there aren't any strings in this song! XD Just a sawpad.

Hmm, I wasn't going for anticlimactic. Though I like the word "glitchy," it's giving me a few ideas you probably weren't going for. XD I'll have to try them sometmie. 6:28, possibly... as for 9:45, I guess. I just wanted to use something other than four-on-the-floor for once, and the opportunity to use some breaks presented itself right there. :D

If you want more bang for your buck, as for the HQ version. XD Yeah, I guess I can see what you mean. And most of this either wasn't all that new to me, or was an idea I hadn't ever considered and was completely new to me. XD Either way it's always great to get someone else's opinion, better still in the kind of detail you explained yourself here. ;D

Thanks for the review! I'll give your music a look in a bit. :)

If only I could save my sytrus samples :(

I only have the demo of Sytrus.

-Nice song btw!

Mrmilkcarton responds:

Thanks. It's worth the money.

Awesome stuff!

I listened to it and was like "Super Smash Bros. Brawl?"

-Hmm, maybe make something like the Matrix next, but faster paced, like a car chase scene, DnB?

NemesisTheory responds:

Really? Brawl has amazing music X3
I could try something like that and see how it turns out :D

Thank you!

hmmm

what are you saying in japanese?

Ninjkabat responds:

"Because Japanese is my native language, I can read lines that are written in Japanese."

I couldn't come up with anything much more original except repeating what I'd just said in English.

sucks

JonH2O responds:

IT WILL FREAK YOU OUT!!!!

Psh...

It'd be nice if people actually noticed songs these days >:(

-Anyways, sweet stuff here, had a sweet ambient feel to it. If you get a recording system to hook into your PC, maybe you could even had natural sound effects (outside ambience, etc.)?

race1 responds:

Like whispers and stuff... I believe that can be arranged....
